Ways to choose a seed.
When I want to start a new world there are options for picking what seed. The seed effects terrain and structure generation, so the slightest change in the seed number can have a significant impact on the world. This is the very first choice I am ever going to make in my world, and the most lasting. This is a fun process on it’s own and I enjoy searching for my world as much as playing in it.

Random seed generation
This is a fun one: I simply create a new world with no idea what I am going to get. Sometimes I will start with the first world, and sometimes I will make multiple worlds before I pick one. If I don’t have a specific preference, this is quick and easy. Either way, it is always a surprise.
Looking up best seeds on the internet
If I want inspiration for a seed, but don’t want to look through a bunch of seeds, I usually look up best seeds of whatever version or year is most recent. This choice can give you pretty wild seed options, for terrain or structures nearby.

Search for different criteria in seed finders
If I have the time to spare, or I am looking for a very specific kind of biome at spawn, I will choose a seed finder. Chunk Base or mcseedmap are a couple of options. I personally use chunk base more for it’s other tools, so I am more familiar with that one.

What am I looking for?
There are various things you could be looking for in a seed. A specific biome to start in or to have nearby. A certain type of terrain. Maybe you want structures that are easy to get to.
For me, I am looking for inspiration. What makes me feel like I really want to build? When I look at the world for the first time, I want that urge to just dive in and start building. That seed that I can see everything I want. Where the ideas just start flowing and don’t stop.
